Description
Fostimon 150 IU is a drug that is administered via injection under the skin. Each vial is intended for single use only and should be used immediately once prepared. The solution for the injection should be prepared just moments prior to administration. Remember, each vial is strictly for single use.
Preparation and Administration
A fertility assistant will guide you through the process of preparing and administering the injection. It is recommended to administer this injection daily, preferably in the evening and at a consistent time.
Before you begin, ensure that you have a clean work surface and that your hands are washed. Arrange the following items on your clean work surface:
- One vial containing FOSTIMON 150 IU SET powder
- One pre-filled syringe with solvent
- One long needle for preparing the injection
- One small needle for subcutaneous injection
Fostimon 150 IU / 1 Vial Preparation: Injection with 1 Vial of Powder
- Remove the cap from the pre-filled syringe and attach the large needle to the syringe.
- Carefully place the syringe on the cleaned work surface. Do not touch the needle.
- Gently push the colored plastic cap upward to remove it from the powder vial.
- Take the syringe, remove the protective needle cap, and slowly inject the solvent into the powder vial through the center of the top of the rubber stopper.
- Press the plunger down firmly to spray all the solvent onto the powder. The syringe is equipped with a safety device to prevent inadvertent withdrawal of the plunger and to improve syringe handling during injection.
Avoid shaking the vial. Instead, gently roll it between your hands until the powder is completely dissolved. This process helps to prevent foam formation.
Once the powder is completely dissolved (which usually happens almost instantaneously), begin to draw the solution into the syringe. With the needle still inserted, invert the vial. Ensure that the needle’s end is submerged in the liquid. Gently pull back on the plunger to draw the entire FOSTIMON SET solution into the syringe. Finally, verify that the solution is clear and colorless.
Removing the Needle:
Quickly pull the syringe out of the skin and apply pressure to the injection site with a cloth soaked in disinfectant. Gently massage the injection site while continuing to apply pressure. This will help the FOSTIMON 150IU SET solution spread more quickly and alleviate any discomfort.
Storage:
Store Fostimon at temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius. If the temperature in your house exceeds this, store it in the refrigerator. Keep the vial and prefilled syringe of solvent in the original container to protect them from light. Always use the medication immediately after it has been prepared.
SIDE EFFECTS
Common, occurs in 1 to 10 users out of 100:
- Headache,
- Bloating,
- Constipation,
- Pain at the injection site.
Uncommon, occurs in 1 to 10 users out of 1000:
- Overactive thyroid
- Mood swings
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Shortness of breath
- Nosebleeds
- Nausea, indigestion, abdominal pain
- Skin rash, itching
- Hot flashes
- Cystitis
- Breast enlargement, breast pain
- Difficulty in stopping bleeding
- Redness, pain, and bruising may occur at the injection site
